Wave Energy Converter ( TeK-THink ) – This video illustrates an interesting wave energy conversion technology called the Ocillo drive. Probably Oscilla is short for Oscillation drive. The device skim the top of the wave capturing the up and down motions and converting into pressure in a liquid pumping system. The pressure achieved is used to turn a hydraulic motor which in then turns a generator making clean electricity.
At issue here will be the ability to float the pump/generator arrangement reliably in all types of ocean weather. In comparison other wave energy converter systems using the up and down motion to drive a linear generator directly. I would love to see a prototype in action, how about you?
